FNF: Fleur de lis

An outfit post on a Friday Night Feature? You don't say....Well besides wanting to wear this (new to me) shirt dress that a co-worker gave to me (BTW I have become the recipient of the "I don't want this anymore, do you want it?" more and more lately) I have something special to share with everyone tonight :) Oh and blush is NOT my friend in these pics but I will live.
Jewelryartdesigns.com  sent me this pendent and asked me to do a review on it for them for all of you lovely readers and here you go: They let me take my pick of any item from their website and it was really hard to choose because they have so many pretty things to pick from! After my co-worker gave me this dress, I thought that I would like somthing black to go with it and when I saw this Fleur de lis pendant I knew it would be parfait! It is very pretty, and lightweight, which is great because I don't like heavy jewelry at all. It came with a chain which is nice, because some companies don't bother, but I swapped it for one of my own that was just a little smaller. I adore the fact that is a little circle and it has the silver details around the fleur de lis, which makes it unique. I am very satisfied with this piece and also with the site, the pendant came really quickly in the mail, only a few days after I placed the order and the site is pretty organized and easy to navigate through. You can check out thier site here and they have some adorable promise rings too :)

This weekend looks great! I am heading out tonight with friends and then...who knows? I am planning on spending lots of time catching up on blogs and also cleaning but for now I have to figure out what I am going to wear tonight :)

Watch me move

Fefe Dobson. She rocked my socks off in 2003 when I first heard "Take me away" from her debut self-titled album, and I have been hooked ever since. This Canadian-born singer writes her own songs, and has crazy talent and style.
Originally singed with major label "Island Records", her debut album was nominated for two Juno awards. Her second album, "Sunday Love" was never released due to the singles off the album not "making the charts". So Island Records dropped her. Fefe instead started working on her own, and with the help of her manager, started to put together another album. Her new album is set to be released in June 2010, called "Joy".
Her music is very girly-rock. There are a few ballads that are easy to relate too, but not generic, as well as some heavier, more guitar-riff songs. However, there are plenty of fun, dance around-like-you-don't-care songs that simply rock. I have plenty of her songs on shuffle for when I am getting ready to go out.

I love Fefe's style and her's is definitely one that I like to channel every now and again when I go out with friends. She is a little girly, but likes to lean towards the rocker side, which looks great on her.

Here are a few of her videos:

Messin' with Sasquatch

It was deceivingly colder outside than it appeared in these pics. I really liked this outfit even though it was a little more autumn than spring, but autumn is my favorite time of year and I am not surprised that my wardrobe reflects that.
I just got these boots off the clearance rack at Forever 21 for $11.00 and I love them! I also got the shades pictured above because I lost my other pair (story of my life). I also got a few other things that I hope to get onto this blog soon enough. I just need quarters for the laundry, we always seem to be short one damn quarter.
Yesterday was also my dad's 48th birthday! I did not get any pictures because both him and my mother refuse to let me take pictures of them. I have no idea why. The guys at my work think my mom is hot, they saw her on my facebook and all I heard was"THAT's your mom?!!" yep, my mom is hot, and I am still a giant dork. I hope when I get to be her age I will look that good. My dad.....we call him Sasquatch. I know, it's mean but he is huge! He isn't really hairy though, but every time a jack-links commercial comes on, my 6 year-old brother goes "messn' with Sasquatch" to my dad. We call him baby sas.

Dress your family in corduroy and denim

Sorry for the squinty-face but Kyle still has school for another week or so and he took these for me really quick before jumping in his car to go. I actually got these shorts over a month ago and I have worn them at least once but I never got a picture. I love them because they are shorts I can wear to work, so that gives me room to switch it up from dresses and skirts. I felt like I was about to go golfing in this outfit, but I loved it because I was comfy. The sweater was given to me by my bestie Jamie :)

I just finished a book that I started at the begining of the semester. "dress your family in corduroy and denim" by David Sedaris. He is awesome and funny and it really is a quick read (even if it took me a semster to get to it). He tells stories from his life through each chapter and they jump around in times of his life, he gives a lot of truthful, personal views in these stories and also creates a way of wording everything hilariously. I have a few more of his books that I cannot wait to get through to now. :)

If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise..

Teddy bear picnic
If you go down to the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.

If you go down to the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.

For ev'ry bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
Ev'ry teddy bear who's been good
Is sure of a treat today.
There's lots of marvelous things to eat
And wonderful games to play.
Beneath the trees where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Cause that's the way the teddy bears have their picnic.

If you go down to the woods today
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely down in the woods today
But safer to stay at home.

For ev'ry bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
Picnic time for teddy bears
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today
Watch them, catch them unawares
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily gad about
They love to play and shout;
They never have any care;

At six o'clock their mummies and daddies,
Will take them home to bed,

Because they're tired little teddy bears.

I mentioned in yesterday's post that Saturday Kyle and I took Louie for walk in Birmingham, here are some more pics from the day. I managed to sneak the camera away to take some of the pics as well. Kyle did take all the ones that are not blurry :P It was a lot of fun.
Where the sidewalk ends.

The rest of the recap: I am officially done with school until September! I was supposed to go out Friday but after walking Louie, I crashed. At 8:30pm and then slept in Saturday morning until we left on our walk. We made a stop at the Salvation army and I bought a few things that I will hopefully be able to wear this week. Saturday night we grabbed some food with Kyle's brother and his girlfriend, then shot some pool before heading in a little early. We wound up watching some episodes of Gilmore Girls on DVD.

Sunday I basically cleaned up the apartment-only to realize that there is a lot more spring cleaning than I thought there was going to be. So that is just going to continue all week for the most part. Sunday night we went to dinner with Kyle's family, and then we watched "Tropic Thunder" again, that movie is so funny. We also got some Krispy Kreme :)  **A few co-workers and I are going to start weighing ourselves at work on Fridays, to kind of support each other with losing weight. I am not sure how well I am going to be doing since I have been eating like crap the past two weeks, but now that school is out, I hope that will change.

And my outfit photos for Sunday:

I felt like I had ranscaked a closet and decied to play dress-up in this outfit. Kyle swears I look like someone from a 90's sit-com but her could not remember who. I hve no clue either, I watched a lot of cartoons in the early 90's, then it was pretty much X-files as far as I can remember. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Project: Fuzzy

I thought that I might take a break from the apartment tour to share with you guys my pictures for the contest on chictopia; The chic and the fuzzy!

It is pretty difficult to take pics with Louie, he is sometimes camera-ready and at other times he is just a spaz. Yet, he somehow takes better pictures than either of my kitties. They manage to look adorable until they see the camera, then they just go crazy.

I kept the outfit pretty simple because I knew I wanted the focus to be on Louie. Of all the pictures we took, the last one is the one I think we are going to submit.

This one was Kyle's fave and since he was nice enough to follow us around and take a bunch of pics I think his opinion should count.

If you feel inclined to vote for this picture on chiptopia (If you have an account) please do!

FNF:Fringe

Bangs
Above your eyes your hair hangs
Blow my mind your royal flyness I dig your bangs

Bangs
To drape across your forehead
To swing concordant angles as you incline your head
Once with a girl I fell in love sometime ago now she had...
Bangs
Are that on which the world hangs
I'm only holding your hand so I can look at your bangs

This past week or so I have had a couple questions about my bangs (alright, only two) and I tought I would share a little info about my hair, including bangs. Hopefully it is helpful, if not then I appologize ahead of time.

Bangs
Are like a pocket T-shirt
As casual as that while fully intentional
And in case you think I'm here cause I like making chit chat
Just remember what I said the money's under your hat

Basically I cut my own hair and I have for the past four years. I haven't always had the full on fringe that I have now, but I have always had some sort of bangs. I decided two years ago that I wanted blunt bangs, but I didn't want to go to a salon, I wanted to be able to maintain my fringe at home. I was lucky enough to come across an article in a magazine on how to cut bangs at home, I tried it, and that is how I have been cutting my fringe ever since. If you have the time and the money, I would suggest going to get them cut at a salon, because you may end up not liking how you cut them. But if you do feel like trying them at home, this is what I typically do:

Step one: Comb the hair you want cut into bangs in front of your face in a straight line.
Step two: Twist this section of hair with your fingertips.
Step three: Snip the ends of your hair past your fingertips (for the very first time, try cutting them a little longer, because you can always make them shorter) and viola! Bangs.

PS!! By cutting your bangs this way, it will make them a little uneven and shaggy. I go through afterwards and clean them up, cutting your bangs this way will also create a fade on the sides, making the side pieces longer. I have grown to like this, but if you want them straight you can trim them straight.

*Tip: For thicker bangs, take more of your hair into the section before you cut your bangs (mine start from the middle of my head almost).

                                                                    (Look, he-bangs)

I typically trim mine every other week, or when I realize that I can no longer see. Some people trim once a week though, so it might vary.
