I know it don't thrill you, I hope it don't kill you, welcome to the working week.

Long time no post! I had my bestie over for the weekend, so I was busy having girl time and lots of fun. I can't wait to get home and edit the pics from this weekend, I hope to get them posted tomorrow :) For now, here is another outfit that I wore to work. Although it does not seem really like "work attire", I couldn't think of anywhere else that I'd wear it. Some of my coworkers loved this outfit, So does Kyle, because he swears that those shorts are golf shorts. I am not 100% sure if I can recommend this look for an office for everyone. I would check to see if shorts are acceptable first. I was always told that shorts are unprofessional for work, but my work is really laid back for the most part, and I thought tights made them a little more appropriate.

Last week I received this amazing purse from Ralph, over at ShyBiker (awesome blog btw). I adore it, mostly because I have never come across anything like it before. I am showing it off here, but I really want to style it up with an outfit that would go with it a little more. I have to say that  I have a weakness for giant purses, so this was right up my alley.

Right now I am currently behind at work, and I have a million things to get done before the week is over. School is a week away! It's also going to be in the 90's all week, but cool down on Friday, and I have lots of fall clothes that I have picked up over the past month that I cannot wait to show all of you, so you can look forward to that pretty soon too :)

Hair, behave.

So, if you have seen any of my latest outfit photo posts, you will start to notice my lighter roots. It looks like I have a bald spot or something in all the pics. I finally chopped all the dead parts off, so it is a little shorter but at least it looks nicer. Now if I could only stay awake while it dries...:P

Meanwhile, here is some hair inspiration:

I watch my Gilmore Girl DVD's waaay to much :P

My original hair inspiration :)

And if I could just manage to style it as lovely as these ladies I'd be happy.

And keep it as shiny and healthy looking as this adorable girl's hair.

The way that my hair is going to grow out, is going to look strange. I will have light roots, and dark ends. I was going to try to call it a reverse ombre, then I thought about it, and in the French language, Ombre simply means faded. So, while most girls who sport this look, have hair like this:

Mine will be a little more like this:

Well, not that drastic, but still. Anywho, what do you think? Who is your hair inspiration? :)

Games, changes and fears

When I first started this blog, I did not know that I was going to include personal style in it. Now, that is a very big part of this blog, and I will admit that all outfits that I have shown on this blog, are all outfits that I do actually wear. I dress for myself, but where I am going and what I am doing also put an influence on what I am wearing. I do love heels, but I have a giant dog that I must walk everyday. I also have realized that as much as I adore my crazy pattern mixing and all that jazz, I am sometimes not dressed for the appropriate occasion. I guess in the most simplest terms, what it breaks down to is this: I am an office assistant, I am an English major aka student, I hang out at dive bars and used book stores with my friends, I take care of myself, my dog and kitties, and sometimes even Kyle. What is the point? I guess the point is that I can still wear all of the clothes I own and love, but at the correct time and place.
I think this maybe a very fun challenge for me. I have always steered away from "office attire", those dark pants and button-ups? They always looked cold and impersonal to me. And suits? Ha, I always managed to look like someone who was wearing her Mom's clothes when I tried them on. So for work I typically wear what you guys see on the blog, which in my defense is very conservative, but not always appropriate. I honestly love wearing all of my clothes, but every once in awhile I am annoyed that I am not taken seriously at work. I am one of the youngest people working at the company, and I am an assistant. People tend to listen to managers, not assistants. Le sigh. But how do I dress nice for work, avoiding that cold-corporate look and still have my own personal style influenced? I think this is a challenge but a really good one. I sat and thought of all of the movies and TV shows that I watched and thought of my favorite characters. How were they dressed for work? What were their jobs? It came down to three people. Lorelei and Rory Gilmore, and Summer Finn. All three ladies dressed very well and cute for their workplace (or newspaper in Rory's case) and still looked professional. So, if fictional characters can do it, so can I.
I simply decided to stick to my favorite girly clothes for work, my simple jeans, T's and sweaters for school, and my funky prints for going out after work or weekends. I also was very pleased to discover that I like this blazer! Too bad it is not mine. It is Lauren's blazer and it is so cute! I loved this outfit for work because I got to wear my flower crop-top and new studded flats with this plain grey skirt and jacket. I think I might actually have to break down and buy a blazer soon, because this one was so cute! I mostly liked it buttoned up, but open was cute too and I did like the top un-tucked as well. I do like the pink trim on this skirt, but one of my coworkers said that he thought it was my underwear. Seriously? How does one's underwear reach their belly-button?

So what do you think guys? Does this outfit scream Rory to you? Do you see enough of "me" in it? Are you up for more of me mixing up boring work clothes? This is just a start and I promise to still take outfit photos of street clothes (I still go places after work, sometimes).

She grew up with the children of the stars

My apartment is slowly becoming freakishly organized. Sunday I spent the entire day cleaning, and I am not even done. I mean, I have somehow gotten into super Spring cleaning mode. I guess, late Summer cleaning, either way, it's actually pretty nice. I even organized all of our important documents the other night. Now they are all labeled in their bright file-folders. Oh and my brother even fixed my vacuum for me! I still have to go get it, and return the one I borrowed, but it is really nice having brothers sometimes. :P
Workout update: Not too much going on there. I started the last segment of cardio, and it stinks. I didn't feel anything, it was really lame. I think I might continue the strength workouts and start running again. These stubby soccer legs were runners legs at one time. 3.1 miles or more everyday. Even if I could jog that right now I would be really happy.
This dress belongs to Ebony! Between her and Lauren,  I feel I have stolen half of their wardrobe. As I type this, I am wearing Lauren's jacket :P I really don't know what I would do without all of their help lately, I love hanging out with Lauren and talking to Ebs and Chloe online, they are all such awesome girls. And If you haven't noticed, I have been very uninspired fashion wise the last two months. I think it's the heat. It is sooooo nice out right now though, I can layer some lighter things again :) Now that I look at this outfit I really wish that I had wore a necklace, oops. I was supposed to wear this out to dinner with Kyle's family last Sunday, but they were all too tired to go. Then I was supposed to wear it to my parents for dinner, but they went Up North for the week. So I just wore it to walk Louie with Kyle. Oh and this bag is my Mary Poppins bag. I actually carried two pairs of heels in it a few weeks ago for girls night, along with all of the normal contents of my purse. The little dragonfly pin on it was a gift from my Dad. :)

This is what nine years looks like?

Thursday, August 19th, Kyle and I celebrated 9 years together. We originally were going to go to the Inn Season Cafe, but it was closed for the week, so we went to the Royal Oak Brewery, which was about a block away and had yummy flat bread pizza and veggie burgers. Then we headed downtown to have some frozen yogurt and just walked around all night. Since we both had to work Friday, we didn't stay out too late, and decided to continue the celebration on Saturday.
So on Saturday we slept in really late, got up and walked Louie then headed to Delmar's restaurant for some yummy breakfast (they serve breakfast all day) then we decided to go thrifting since Kyle didn't get to go last week and we got so many cute things, I really cannot wait to wash everything and style them up. Kyle got a lot of cute shirts and a few pairs of pants. Then we raided the grocery store, took Louie for another big long walk and stayed in for the night to watch movies. We had an 80's theme and watched "The Toy", which was hilarious, and "Willow" which is awesome.
We also decided to have a late-night, very tired looking photo shoot in the bedroom. Sexy huh? I am just so happy to be with Kyle and I could not have asked for anyone else in the world to be with me for nine years and I am still in love with him as much as I was way back when, on a late September evening, when I first told him that I loved him. He is the closest person in the world to me, he is my best friend. :)

Smile like you mean it

I am definitely a fall-ball but sometimes I really wish that I had a Summer birthday. This week was my friend Becky's birthday and she celebrated by having a picnic in the park. It was so cool, there were tons of junk food and people I hadn't seen in awhile and also new people that I got a chance to meet. Everyone was really nice and funny! Everyone was cracking jokes, or quoting YouTube videos, movies, and stand-up comics.
Then after we had enough BSing in the park, we migrated to one of my favorite places in Royal Oak, National Coney Island. They are all over the Metro Detroit area, actually there are Coney Islands all over the mitten, but this particular one is my favorite. We used to skip school and hangout there, or go there on half-days or after school, or homecoming, or before the next Harry Potter movie...you know, it's where we went. All the junk food you could ask for in one place, and typically you can be loud and move chairs around and all that jazz, they don't get mad. Our senior scavenger hunt ended at Nationals. I love having it here in Royal Oak, it's one place that never changes. Aside from the menus, they got new ones, and we yelled at them, but, alas, the food is the same.

Again I am wearing this awesome skirt from Ebs, and I have to send it on it's way now, you guys will know more about that hopefully pretty soon :) Here are the other two ways that I have worn it:

June Gloom

It's not June anymore, I am well aware, but I adore The Like and their song fit my post title for today. I have been so down today. My Uncle RJ lives in the UP and fell off his roof a few days ago. He broke 5 ribs, shattered one of them, and bruised his heart, which I didn't even know was possible. He is at home now, but in a lot of pain. I feel so bad, I cannot visit because they live so far away. Also my Aunt Helen passed away a few days ago. She was in her eighties, so she lived a long life, but my Mom and Aunt Terri were pretty close with her and they are really upset. I feel bad because I don't really remember her. I think I saw her a lot when I was around 5 years old, but I still don't remember her. So things have been a little gloom around my parents house.

On top of that, all the little things are piling up and getting to me. Louie got a cut on his arm over the weekend, it's not a big deal, it isn't infected, but It scares me because I have no clue how he did it. Our apartment has flies. Sink flies to be exact. We have had them awhile and so do other apartments. We tried the vinegar and soap traps, they don't work (I think those are only for fruit flies anyway) so Kyle got a pet-safe bug bomb a few weeks ago and we bombed the place. I cleaned up flies for two days after, it was sick and gross but they were all gone...for about a week. Now they are back and we are going to try it again and try to get all the little cracks in the apartment cleaned out too just in-case any are hiding. I just hate it because I can't have anyone over because there are BUGS all over the place. I know they are harmless, but they are gross. Then my vacuum broke, AGAIN. I have had it 5 years and we had it serviced 3 times at different places, and Kyle and my Dad and brother's have all fixed it numerous times. We borrowed Kyle's Mom's for now, but it is frustrating. I feel bad being upset about these things when there are other important things to be upset about, which is just making it worse.
I think what I need is some alone time. I really am one of those people that needs to have alone time to recharge and be able to function normally around others.

On a better note, I have been keeping up with my workout, and I have two weeks left! :) I am excited to do my "I hit my goal" post. I know I am at a slow pace, but I know it will happen, and soon. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer this post, I promise to have something more fun tomorrow (editing the pics now, actually) :)

Double Date

Thursday night Lauren and Kevin surprised Kyle and I with a special night out. Kyle and I were told to dress nice and we were not told where we were going. Around 6:30, we left and headed to 6mile and John R, to Dakota Inn, a German restaurant that Lauren has been dying to try.

Of course we took a million pics, but it was so much fun! A really cool historical place, and we got to dress up! The prices were really good, and the food was amazing! I think we all ordered something different so we were sampling each others food, but it was all very delicious. I think we are planning on going back for Oktoberfest, with a big group. I honestly have never been to one, so I am very intrigued and excited to go.
Anywho, It is now Sunday and I have a crazy list of things to do today, and I have no idea where to start...another list :P
