You look lovely today

Royal Oak Michigan thinks you all look lovely today! Just thought I would share that with everyone :) Like my shirt? It's a skirt! I had to try it, even though it was oober casual. I liked it because I was comfy, although I am not really sure I would wear it again like this, I dunno, I am not "in love" with it, but it was fun to try something different. I am going to have to keep it short today, the car is still down and my Dad works at the butt-crack of dawn, and then does not leave until 5:30-6pm. So here are a few more pics to enjoy :)

Meet the mocks :)

Did you see my newest favorite item(s) in the whole world? I got a new pair of shoes from Incognito in downtown Royal Oak.  Incognito is a pretty expensive store, I have always browsed the shop, ever since high-school and I am pretty sure the only thing I ever bought from there was a T-shirt from the clearance rack. However, I made a great purchase last Friday.
I had been eying them ever since I had seen them on the blog "Delightfully Tacky" and when my friend Mariah had the very same pair and assured me that they were super comfy and lasted her years, I was convinced that they would someday be mine. Well low and behold Incognito sold them, and therefore sold a pair to me :) I love them and I do not think that my feet will ever leave them at this rate.
Sunday we had to take Jamie home and Kyle was sweet enough to take some pics of us before we left to drive her back home to Dearborn Heights (about 45 minutes away) we decided to be a little goofy as per usual. The best part of Sunday though, was the tornado warning. I got a phone call from my mom, telling me to get inside somewhere safe, like a basement, and I tell her that I am walking down main street heading to Barnes & Nobles.
We also had to drive my car, Beans to my parents for my Dad to checkout. It is not running right (keeps stalling) and I am very lucky to have a Dad and brothers who can fix my car for me and also to have a Dad only a mile away that can drive my ass to work because we work together in Detroit. I hope that Beans gets up and running soon, I hate depending on other people for rides. We then rushed back from Jamie's to have dinner with Kyle's family at Howie's Bayou in Ferndale. The food is amazing! All new Orleans style (yum yum) I had a salmon Caesar salad ( I am a Caesar freak)  and sweet potato fries.

I'm Sailing

Saturday my best friend Jamie was over and I asked her to take a few outfit pics for me, and whenever Jamie takes my pics I have to be a little goofy. This is my vintage 60's dress, that I also used as a Halloween costume last year (I went as a flight attendant) and at first this outfit was alright for the day, but then later on I started to roast because the material is so thick.
Earlier in the day, Kyle and I went to Berkley to go garage-saleing! It was great, the whole city was having sales and we got some great stuff. Some were these two items, an antique scale (Kyle said his grandma had one like it when he was younger, so he had to have this one) and this lunch-box, it even has the thermos in it still. I am so going to use it as soon as I clean it out. I also got two dresses for $3, Kyle got a painting, some shirts, a teapot and a pair of shoes that didn't fit :( It was still a lot of fun. Later on, we picked up Jamie, then headed out to Luna's for a bit. It was fun, but one of the pool tables was down, and the guys were bummed out so we stayed for a few drink specials and then headed back to the apartment to hangout with the neighbors. We wound up staying up until 4am, chatting away and listening to Jamie's MP3 player and one of the girls went to get us pizza which was awesome. That is one thing that I love about the Metro Detroit area, the local places make the best stuff, and it was cheap! Only $6 a pie :)
Also this week, the greatest guy in the world got me some flowers! :) :) I love Kyle so much, I am really bummed because starting this week he will be working another night shift for awhile and I won't be seeing him too often. I hate that our schedules are so different sometimes. More weekend updates next post :)

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike. I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like.

Guess what I dragged out of storage again? My bike! I love love love my bike. I bought it at Target two years ago, when Kyle accidentally smashed my bike when we went camping (It was on the back of the car, he then backed the car into a tree). My old bike was a purple ten-speed that I loved. I had it since I was...ten. So, I broke down and got this one! It is sooo an old lady bike, I even have the poofy butt seat because I am like an old person and have to be comfortable when I am riding my bike. I bought the bell and the purple tassels on a whim, but I think that it is great. I called Kyle yesterday at work and I asked him if we could take the bikes out and he agreed. I had to walk Louie before we went so he wouldn't go crazy, but it was a blast. Bike rides on hot Summer nights are so underrated.
I managed to get a pic of Kyle and his bike, but he was not really in a picture mood. I told him to just make a strange face and this is what I got. The things this boy does for me lol. I know he really wanted to just sit on the couch and chill out, but he even admitted that the bike ride made him feel great. I am hoping we can take them out to Stoney Creek  (a great metro park here in MI) sometime soon, that would be great.
I wore a simple outfit too, just to have more focus on the bike, and I wound up matching it lol. I am surprised that I have not named my bike yet. I am sort of thinking of Stella. I think Stella would be a pretty awesome name for the bike, with tassels like that, she's got to be a girl! Also, Stella was my Great Grandmother's name. I however, called her "Busia". So guys, what is your bike like?

Represent

I am not sure if anyone actually pays THAT much attention to everything on my blog here, but yesterday I decided to nix the schedule finally. I really love being organized, but the posts were starting to feel like homework, and it just wasn't really fun. I promise to still do some Friday Night Features, but for now, you have a plain ole blog. I am sure nobody is deeply offended.
 Greetings from planet Sara!

In other news, I have full-on Weezer obsession going on (what else is new?) Work has been insanely crazy. I have to catch up, so I have been staying after, working half-days on Saturdays, I feel overwhelmed and Weezer puts me in a good mood. On that note, posts might be a little random in the next two weeks because of this. I promised my boss we would go for a beer after I get caught up, at least I have job security right? Oh and also speaking of Weezer...check it out :)

Bacon & Eggs

Hello everyone! Summer is turning out to be such a blast! Last night, the neighbors and I all got together and we cooked up the last of the left-overs. There is something about fresh-cooked food, the faint smell of ciggarettes, and cold beer on a 85 degree day that really makes summer. I really could not have thought of a better place to be, it was great just sitting around BSing until late at night. I think we will probably make this a weekly thing. The only problem is.....if Kyle and I are looking for a house, we are going to have to leave them all :( just when we get a great group!
This is the dress that started it all folks. I bought this baby a few years ago at Regeneration in Ferndale, and it was the first thrifted dress that I remember buying. I knew it would be huge on me, so I bought a green belt to go with it. Of course, this black one that came with my NYE dress was free and it is easier to use (it stays put) but it is great to think that this one dress basically got me into thrifting more and more. Instead of spending $20 on a top at hot topic, or American eagle, I can buy more clothes and be a little more creative. The dress isn't anything too special, I am sure if another girl went into a thrift store, she could find one exactly like it, but, I guess the point is to make it your own. (Nothing against department stores, for I am a forever 21 whore) Like mixing it with a great, priceless bag from Target! lol. I know this bag was mass-produced a few years ago, but it was too silly not to pass up. I think it is great. :)

Chocolate in the morning

If I wasn't already curvy, this outfit makes me even more so. I am not complaining, but I do feel really outside of my element here. I did not wear the heels to work, I wore flats :) But more importantly, how awesome is this case/box thing? Mariah bought two at a store for really cheap a long time ago, then realized she didn't want this and gave it to me. It is so cool! I figured since I was lacking color in this look that I had to somehow incorporate this black & white box. I really wanted to take some pics by the train tracks, but we are always on a time crunch and we had to still walk Louie.
At least my bruises are fading. Now it just looks like a don't bath instead of looking like an abuse victim. Poor Kyle kept getting dirty looks from everyone. Of course I took these right after I ate a giant dinner, so I had food-baby going on as well, but I think they came out okay. The highlight of the evening is that I rediscovered my Cyndy Lauper record that Kyle bought for me last time we were at the salvation army. He came home and said "Who the hell is this? It sounds like f*cking Cyndy Lauper!" At which point I started cracking up at his bewilderment.
The last two are a little deer in the headlights, but Kyle liked them so I suppose they can stay....Anywho, hows about a poem guys? It's been awhile :)

Chocolate in the morning
By Sara Astley

Grey haze of awareness-so early it's a secret.
I hush down the hallway into
an ebony-inspired domain-too black
for a reflection.
Long lines and sighs clothe my mind and my awakened
eyes are thrilled
by the fuzzy-conscious shadows shaped around my feet.
Interrupted by my own movements, when
               Hazelnut is calling.
Hard-fake wood
never felt so good, bracing my back so early.
A glimpse of star-spangled mish-
mash upon my
Moon-caked lids, are reflections of small-times
of uninterrupted purity.

I think this is the only one that I really like :P

The update, from Sara-Lee CupCake.

Sooooo, my internet went down sometime after my post Saturday afternoon, and then came back up late Sunday night. After all of that updating too. Damn. I am pretty behind on blogs now, but since I spent all day Sunday cleaning, I should have more time today to do some blog reading. :) I know there are a few of you that I need to get back to.  Now for the updates.
Saturday was a blast. The neighbors in my apartment complex got together and we all had a giant BBQ in the park next the apartments. We all  invited friends over and everyone brought food and drinks and we started at about 5pm, and I think I went to bed around 3:30am. I played my first-ever game of beer pong, and the second game was awesome, girls vs guys and we won! It was great meeting new people and hanging out with all my neighbors. We have a ton of food left and we are hanging out again on Tuesday to finish it up. I can't wait until we do it again because it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Sunday as you know was Father's Day, but my dad refuses to let me take pics of him so I didn't even bother with the camera. One of these days, a pic of him will make it's way onto this blog. Here is what I wore on Sunday.
The rest of the night was cleaning like I said before. There is something amazing about having a clean apartment. I feel like I can take on anything once it is clean. It is a great feeling. :) I hope everyone had a great weekend!
